HSHPE welcomes Kareen McKinnon as new executive director
BELLEVILLE – Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward has hired a new executive director to replace Marilyn Lawrie, who is set to retire on September 30, 2024.
Kareen McKinnon, a Belleville resident with a diverse background in management, has been chosen to replace Lawrie. She will join HSHPE on September 3 to allow her to spend several weeks with Lawrie, getting to know the organization and familiarizing herself with the demands of the job.
“Replacing Marilyn is no easy task,” said Greg Sudds, HSHPE board chair, “but we’re delighted to have found Kareen and know she will bring a wealth of experience to the position.”
McKinnon has previously worked as general manager for Sienna Senior Living’s Island Park Residence in Campbellford and chief operating officer at Pioneer Health Care in Belleville.
“Kareen McKinnon is a dynamic and accomplished professional with a rich history of global travel and a diverse background in business. With extensive experience in multiple disciplines, including investment banking and healthcare, Kareen has honed a unique blend of analytical and strategic skills. Kareen’s passion for connecting with people and her natural ability to build strong, collaborative teams have been central to her success. She thrives in environments where diverse minds come together to achieve a common goal, particularly when that goal involves making a positive impact on the world,” states McKinnon’s bio.
“I’m thrilled to get this chance to lend my talents and experience to an organization with such a long and dedicated record of caring for animals in need in Hastings Prince Edward,” commented McKinnon.
