Ways to Help

Consider donating your time, energy and expertise or providing financial support to help local animals in need.

We rely on the generosity of people like you to care for animals in need in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. Your support makes it possible for us to provide sometimes life-saving medical treatment to abandoned, surrendered and seized animals.

6 Ways to Help Animals in Need in Hastings and Prince Edward

1Make a Wiggle Team

We introduced teams to our annual Wiggle Waggle Walkathon in 2023 and we look forward to welcome new teams of walkers in 2025. So corral your friends, colleagues and family members and make a team of walkers (max. 6) Collect pledges and bring them along with your pet on the big day, for a day of walking, sharing, prizes and fun. Date to be announced.

2Foster an Animal

We are always in need to foster homes for shelter animals. Many animals do much better in a home environment, where they can get the one-on-one attention and socialization that is sometimes hard to provide at the shelter.

3Join Our Fundraising Committee

Do you have fundraising experience or simply lots of energy and time? Let us know, we are always looking for motivated people to help us plan and carry out our fundraising events, like Wiggle Waggle, Trivia & Treats, and more.

4Drop Off Your Cans and Bottles

Simply drop your empty wine, beer and spirits bottles and cans off at the shelter, 34 Wallbridge-Loyalist Road from 8-5, 7 days a week or at one of our drop off partners.

5Invite Your Customers to Help

There is nothing better than a Through-the-Till Donation Campaign to help fill our coffers. We also have donation boxes available to supporting businesses with lots of customer traffic.

6Leave the Animals a Little Something in Your Will

Your planned donation can help HSHPE tackle bigger projects needed to respond to challenges.
