The 2nd Annual Rushnell Charity Classic

Raised $38,600 for Animals in Need

Belleville – Thanks to the efforts of all the sponsors, auction donors, and 148 golfers, the 2nd Rushnell Charity Classic raised $38,600 ($12,600 more than last year) in support of the Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward at the Trillium Wood Golf Club on Friday June 6, 2025.

“My family and I are overwhelmed by the support we received for the Tournament for the animals in need.” commented, Ashley Rushnell. “This annual event combines a fun day of golfing and dinner, while supporting a very important community cause. HSHPE does not receive annual funding from any level of government and relies on community support. Its earned revenue from adoptions and service contracts funds the care and adoptions for the animals.”

“We cannot thank the Rushnell Family enough for pioneering this tournament/fundraiser for the Humane Society,” replied Greg Sudds, Chair, HSHPE Board of Directors. “Ashley (Rushnell) and her team of volunteers have done an amazing job at putting this wonderful and fun tournament together. We also extend our gratitude to all the sponsors, golfers, volunteers and the host, Trillium Wood Golf Club.”

Along with plenty of goodwill, the tournament also generated a competitive spirit for the Rushnell Funeral Homes Charity Classic Cup. This year, the Cup was presented to the 1st place team consisting of Andy Rossit, Curt McLean, Paul Murray and Brandon McLean. No $20,000 or $10,000 hole-in-one prizes were awarded.

Andrew Babcock of the TaskForce Engineering Team won the Las Vegas trip donated by Rushnell Funeral Homes for those who made donations to the HSHPE Animal Food Bank. Casey Hagadorn won the 50/50 draw, and Tim Lake won the raffle of the Blackstone Grill BBQ package. Many golfers also walked away with one-of-kind and unique auction items.

These events, and particularly this tournament, would not be complete without the support of the sponsors; Rushnell Funeral Homes, Maple Dale Cheese, McDougall Insurance and Financial, Belmont Long Term Care Facility, Johnson Plumbing, West City Honda, BST Vacations, James Reevie Real Sports Memorabilia and Passage Branding.

Over the years, funeral and burial options have changed drastically. What matters most is that you acknowledge the passing of a loved one in a way that is most meaningful and helpful in your healing. We put families first. For over three generations our family’s simple philosophy of providing a dignified service and giving people what they want has made us trusted by more families than any other funeral service provider in communities we serve.
